The Power of Relationships

This week, we are focusing on connection - that beautiful tapestry which invites all of us into unity and understanding. Forming connections and building relationships is at the very heart of what we do as teachers. It is very difficult for children or adults to learn from someone else if they feel disconnected to them. We get to know students, meet them where they are, and believe in who they are becoming. We strive to be safe, loving, and consistent to create a space where strong connections can grow and flourish.

When students build strong, trusting relationships with peers and professionals in their school environment, this is such a powerful thing. This may be the only place in their world where they can be truly seen and valued for who they are. While this time in the school year can feel exhausting and stressful, it is also the season when we begin to see the evidence of strong, positive friendships. We witness collaboration and advocacy. We hear stories shared and questions asked. What better way to learn? And this is rooted in the decision to intentionally create a space for connection.
