Connection

“We’re hardwired for connection - it’s what gives purpose and meaning to our lives. The absence of love, belonging, and connection always leads to suffering.” ~ Brené Brown

During the first months of the school year, there is so much connection going on. You are partnering with families to ensure students’ well-being and success. You are collaborating with colleagues to remain aligned and learn from each other’s creativity. You are asking students questions and listening intently to get to know them better. You are most likely witnessing students building connections with one another, forming friendships and coming out of their “shells.”

Today, I invite you to pause and reflect on how connection is growing and strengthening within your space of learning.

  • Who do you feel connected to at your place of work?

  • What do others do or say that helps you feel connected to them?

  • How do you invite others to create meaningful connections with you?

  • In what ways do students feel connected when they come to school? How do you know?

  • What connections have you observed that surprised you?

  • How would you like connections to continue to grow and strengthen during the school year?
