Teacher Tip Tuesday: Top 20

What’s the count? How many school days are remaining for your school year? I’ll bet you don’t even have to think about it too much to know the answer! The end of the year activities are in full-motion. There is so much to do in so little time. The days are somehow going by at both a snail’s pace and faster than we can believe simultaneously. (I’ll never understand how this works.)

Let’s not lose these moments or the other amazing memories we’ve made this year. My Teacher Tip Tuesday for you today is: Create a Top 20 List. This does not need to happen right now or even today. In fact, I think it would be meaningful if you spend several days and weeks working on it. So I’m inviting you to do this by the end of the school year.

In a notebook or on your computer, start a list of the top twenty moments from the 2023-2024 school year. I encourage you to have this in a place where you can easily add experiences as they come to mind. Think about the beginning of the year and first impressions. Consider the “light bulb” moments and times when your classroom community really came together. When have you laughed the most with your class this year? When did you overcome a challenge together or navigate something difficult in a positive way? What were some student quotes that you just had to write down so you’d never forget them?

As the days and weeks move forward, I hope so many meaningful memories are brought to mind. When you reflect with intention, you may not even realize what will resurface for you!
