Remember

Today, in the midst of our work, family time, or celebrations with friends, we pause to remember. We set aside a day to recognize and honor the men and women who have given their lives to protect our opportunity to experience freedom, learning, and a future of growth. Many of our fellow teachers have served our country, carrying a weight others may never truly understand. Many people working in our schools have lost loved ones who have served in the U.S. or overseas. Somehow, these individuals continue to take life one day or one moment at a time, committed to teaching our students and strengthening our communities. 

We pause to remember those we have lost.

We pause to honor the lives lived and experiences shared.

We pause to share their legacies, recounting their stories and their passions.

We pause to grieve the pain and confusion of loss.

We pause to comfort those who are journeying through life while deeply missing those they love.

We pause to be humbly grateful for the opportunities we have because of others’ sacrifices.

Today, we pause.
