The Words We Leave Behind
“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.
Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it.”
~ J.K. Rowling
The end of the school year invites an opportunity to communicate truths to your students. Whether you have twenty students or two-hundred, consider how you might inspire them with your words.
What characteristics, strengths, and skills have you noticed about each student?
What do you believe for the future of your students?
In their joyful and challenging seasons of life, what do you want to make sure your students remember?
During the last few weeks of school, I often write my students individual letters and, as a team, I share my most important life lessons. We usually focus on one each day leading up to the last day of school. I tell them if these are the only things they remember from our year together, it will be enough.
Your messages will be unique to you and your students. This is incredibly special. As the end of the year draws closer and our exhaustion sets in, let us push forward and continue to leave a legacy while we still have them in our midst.
