Remember Moments
“We do not remember days, we remember moments.” ~ Cesare Pavese
All week, we have been reflecting on who and what is most important and leaning into these moments. I know you are an amazing educator. I know you are passionate about what you do and who you do it for. And because of this, I know that paying attention to students in the moment has been a part of your entire school year. So today, I want to invite you to reflect on your “in the moment” experiences with students this year. (If you are a journaler like me, these will be wonderful ideas to jot down to return to later.)
When was a time this year when you paused something you could’ve done and instead took time for a student? Did you and this student talk about anything? What did that interaction do to strengthen your connection? What lasting impact could this experience have had on the student?
When was a time this year when you “noticed” intently? When your awareness led you to notice a student who really needed you? How did you connect with that student in a way that made them feel seen, heard, and loved?
When was a time this year when you saw a student’s “spark” or potential and spoke belief into them? What truths did you name about the student that they may take with them into the future? How did this interaction impact your connection with one another?
When was a time this year when a student noticed you? When a student checked in with you or encouraged you? Did a student understand you better than you thought they did? How did this impact you?
