Perception

“Some people could be given an entire field of roses and only see the thorns in it. Others could be given a single weed and only see the wildflower in it. Perception is a key component to gratitude. And gratitude a key component to joy.”

~ Amy Weatherly

I am not sure if hope is possible without gratitude. When we take the thought and time to be thankful, our awareness of the world around us widens, causing us to perceive the beautiful blessings we have been given. Sometimes gratitude does not feel natural. We may not instinctively notice who or what we are thankful for until we take the intentional effort to identify them. That is why, as Amy Weatherly eloquently writes, “Perception is a key component to gratitude.” We will certainly find what we are looking for.

What are you looking for today? The thorns in the field of roses or the wildflower in the weeds?

The choice is yours.
