I Am Gifted
“Then let us all do what is right, strive with all our might toward the unattainable, develop as fully as we can the gifts God has given us, and never stop learning.” ~ Ludwig Van Beethoven
…strive with all our might toward the unattainable…
It feels implausible, doesn’t it - striving with all our might toward what is unreachable? We may think: Who am I to try to achieve this great goal? It’s impossible. In our questioning, we are reminded that with God, all things are possible! Jesus defeated the word, “unattainable,” when He was raised from the dead to demonstrate God’s love for us. Let us also challenge the unattainable perceptions in our mind, so we may focus on what God has named possible.
…develop as fully as we can the gifts God has given us…
God has given us incredible gifts of all kinds. We begin in awareness of what these gifts are. Pause for a moment to think about the dreams, interests, passions, and abilities God has instilled in you. Reflect also on all the ways God has gifted you to serve your family, students, and community. It is our responsibility and joy to steward these gifts well for His glory.
…and never stop learning.
This is the key. Our gifts strengthen and gain momentum as we expose them to ideas, perspectives, and skills. A musician’s gift would be lovely, yet limited, if they only learned and perfected one song. A carpenter’s gift would be efficient, yet monotonous, if they only created the same chair over and over again. We grow in and through our gift, taking pride in new heights achieved, and setting sights for higher.
In Beethoven’s words, this is what is right.
May the Lord Bless You and Keep You:
Today, as you take time to reflect on God’s design for your life, may you reflect and be thankful for the gifts He has given you.
May you courageously step forward to pursue what feels unattainable, confident that God has made all things possible through Jesus Christ.
May the Holy Spirit empower you into action, strengthening and using your gifts for God’s purposes.
