I Am Claimed

I don’t know about you, but the weekend seemed to come and go as quickly as the autumn breeze! However you are beginning your week, I hope you remember that you are claimed and you are enough exactly as you are. Thank you for stepping into another week of learning, growing, and inspiring. Today, our reflection comes from “Called to the Classroom: Daily Reflections for Educators” Day #20: I am Claimed.

“For in him we live and move and have our being.” ~ Acts 17:28a (NIV)

In our previous reflection, we explored the importance of valuing the students God has placed in our midst. But I have come to believe, it is virtually impossible to truly value others if we struggle to value ourselves. If we cannot unconditionally embrace ourselves in all our imperfection and messiness, how can we welcome those around us?

I’ll admit it is difficult to understand and fully accept God’s love for me. It goes against my human nature to believe God loves me apart from my works. In a society where our actions and performance seem to dictate our worth, receiving a contrary method of love sometimes feels uncomfortable and foreign. But this is Truth: We are claimed by God.

In Him, we live and move, and have our being.

In our personal and professional lives, we are pulled in many directions. However, we can rest in knowing that, when we are rooted in Christ, this is where we belong, and we are claimed. He will not change. He will not fail.

May the Lord Bless You and Keep You:

Today, you are claimed.

You are claimed no matter what you produce.

You are claimed regardless of the score on the assessment.

You are claimed when you are tired and when you have energy.

You are claimed when you cry and when you laugh.

You are unconditionally claimed.
