I Am A Friend
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” ~ Proverbs 17:17 (NIV)
We carry many identities with us in our personal and professional lives. Being a teacher, in and of itself, encompasses more than the 180 themes in this book. All of us hold additional roles outside of our professional responsibilities. We may be parents, grandparents, sons, daughters, partners, siblings, mentors, coaches, volunteers, and friends.
In each of these capacities lie blessings and obligations. Today, let’s simply focus on friendship because I believe it is vital in our lives, and it can often be overlooked. I want to recognize and honor that on busy days and in stressful seasons, you are a friend to others. Perhaps you have many close relationships in multiple areas of your life, or you may have a few deep friendships that you cultivate. Authentic friendship is an incredible blessing because we are welcomed into another person’s life to experience joy and struggle with them.
However your social life takes form, this is an important part of who you are. God brings people into your life to support you and keep you grounded. Being a friend to others and embracing others’ friendship can be one of the most powerful experiences we have in life. May God surround each of us with people who will encourage us to be the best we can be, rooted in faith. In turn, we are blessed when we are a blessing to others.
May the Lord Bless You and Keep You:
Today, may you take a moment to reach out to a friend.
May God bless you with encouragement and love from those closest to you.
May your circle strengthen in compassion and connection.
And may God bring new people into your life to offer fresh perspectives.
