Celebrate the Wins

"When one flower blooms, spring awakens everywhere."

~ John O’ Donohue

Today is the last day of March and we are entering into an exciting time of the school year when we may be noticing evidence of growth and progress for our students. These breakthroughs may seem small or insignificant, but as educators, we recognize the importance of these moments. The “wins,” as I call them, propel us forward, reminding us that the seeds of love and knowledge we have been planting all year will sprout and bloom in their own time.

As you journey through your day, look for the evidence of growth all around you. I have included some questions you may want to use to guide your observation and reflection. When you notice the “wins,” I encourage you to write them down, so you can look back on these motivating moments on a day when you may need a little extra encouragement.

Questions for Reflection & Observation:

  • Where am I finding evidence of growth in my students?

  • What passions and curiosities are my students developing?

  • How have my students been growing in kindness and empathy toward themselves or others?

  • Who is emerging as a positive leader?

  • Where have I seen academic breakthroughs, building confidence in students?

  • How has community been cultivated and strengthened in my learning space?
