“Called to the Classroom” Update
I’d like to take a pause from my normal reflections to share some exciting updates. In April of this year, Team Meline, LLC published “Called to the Classroom: Daily Reflections for Educators.” The purpose of this book is to provide an empowering resource to teachers, leaders, and anyone who works with our children and young adults. Because my faith has been incredibly influential in my own teaching journey, I chose to write this book with a faith perspective. My hope is that people in all walks of life with many different experiences can find meaningful and personal applications.
As schools and districts around are gearing up for a new school year, I have been so excited to share this resource with educators and administrators. I’ve had the opportunity to visit some schools, connect with teachers, and partner with administrators all over the country. Here are some highlights at the time that I’m writing this:
Schools in several states have purchased bulk orders as devotional materials for their staff. States include: Arizona, Alabama, Florida, Colorado, Washington, New York, New Hampshire, Oregon, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania.
We have sold almost 700 copies of “Called to the Classroom: Daily Reflections for Educators.”
“Called to the Classroom” is available in both paperback and Kindle editions.
Hundreds of schools around the country have requested excerpts of the book to review.
All of these highlights are wonderful to celebrate! Of all of these experiences, my favorite part has been the opportunity to connect with so many teachers and leaders. I can’t tell you how many emails I’ve received thanking me for writing a resource like this. The gracious gratitude has been overwhelming. To me, it confirms Team Meline’s mission: To cultivate community and empower educators. Additionally, when talking with teachers about beginning the school year, I hear excitement about new opportunities as well as frustrations over concerns not being heard and validated.
My takeaway is: Let’s consider how we can surround and uplift our teachers, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, administrators, chefs, counselors, nurses, librarians, custodians, social workers, volunteers, and so many more. Take a moment to reflect on who is in your circle. Do you have friends or family who are in these roles? Perhaps you are in one of these roles yourself. How can you listen to and encourage these individuals? Trust me; your impact will make more of a difference than you will ever know.
