Inviting Gratitude

In November, we will be exploring a season of inviting gratitude. The practice of noticing and naming what we are thankful for can be very powerful and can impact our mindset throughout the day. During this time of the year, the exhaustion and heartbreak may sink a little deeper than it has in the past. Inviting gratitude to have intentional space in our day is one way we can come together to share the positive things in our midst.

I want to be clear by articulating that I don’t believe gratitude alone is a “fix-all.” Our profession is extremely difficult and it may often feel as if we’re swimming upstream. Gratitude doesn’t solve systemic education flaws or challenges. It doesn’t magically ensure that the needs of our students and families are met. Rather, intentional thankfulness draws our gaze to the very real things that we are blessed with in life, providing a respite from the difficulties we face.

This month, I invite you to join me in daily gratitude. Each day, I will include a prompt to reflect on and share if you’d like. You’re welcome to share your ideas in the following ways:

  • Comment on this (and every) daily reflection post with your gratitude response

  • Join our Team Meline Facebook group and share your ideas

  • Join the Called to the Classroom Facebook page and share your ideas

  • Follow Team Meline on Instagram and comment on the daily posts

  • Send me a personal email at christina.meline@teammeline.com with your examples of gratitude

Thank you for walking with me during this season of inviting gratitude. My hope is that we would cultivate community by building those around us with our practice of daily thankfulness.

Day #1: Share one thing you are thankful for today.
