Friday Freebie!
For many schools, Spring Break is right around the corner! These extra days off often bring respite and breathing room for students and teachers who desperately need it! Students may be sharing about the trips they are taking and the exciting adventures they can’t wait to have. We are also reminded of the students who don’t look forward to breaks because their school building may their only source of provision for their food, consistency, and companionship. For these students, Spring Break may feel more uncomfortable.
Our Friday Freebie today is called: Plan Your Adventure Day! (Click HERE for the link.) This is an informal writing project that invites students to imagine how ever they would want to spend a day and then write about it. Around this time of year, students may choose to use it as an avenue to reflect on Spring Break. Others may use it to claim a sense of ownership over their situation. They are in the role of “planner,” and can use their adventure day in any way they’d like!
In whatever way this activity is used, it’s sure to get students writing and daydreaming! If you choose to use this with your students, let me know how it goes! I’d love to hear your stories.
